The Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon was built between 1863 and 1880 by French colonists, featuring Gothic architecture and two 58-meter-tall bell towers that can be seen from a distance. After standing at the heart of Saigon for nearly 140 years, the Cathedral is starting to show signs of deterioration. A decade-long restoration project intended to preserve the cultural and historical significance of the Cathedral was initiated in 2017. Despite some parts being covered in scaffolding, the Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral remains a popular tourist destination. The ongoing restoration adds an intriguing dimension to the tourist experience, allowing visitors to witness the preservation efforts firsthand.
